AHRC Workshop: Impact of Applied Linguistics in Healthcare, 25 January 2013, Institute of Mental Health

Posted on Saturday 26th January 2013 by Paul Crawford

Professor Srikant Sarangi (Cardiff University), Professor Peter Schulz (University of Lugano, Switzerland) and Professor Brian Brown (De Montfort University) presented excellent talks on the achievements and impact of health language research over the last 50 years.  The lively discussions about what can be achieved in the next 50 years suggested that increased connectivity between researchers in this field, consultative research approaches, and increased collaboration between language and communication scholars who share a passion for healthcare and clinicians with a passion for investigating how language strategies can advance effective care should create more opportunities for real world impact and change. The International Health Humanities Network would like to play its part in cohering links between researchers working in health language so please do sign up as members of the site and add in your impact narratives of any health language work you have been involved in.
