Mutual Recovery in Media and Policy

Project Summary

This (sub)project focuses on the discursive construction of recovery in media and policy texts. While interviews with professionals and informal carers may suggest that arts participation improves resilience and well-being across communities, is this notion of mutuality also part of media and policy discourses on mental health recovery? Applying techniques from corpus linguistics and discourse analysis this project examines whether and how the concepts of mutuality and connectedness define recovery, community and care in media and policy texts on creative practice for mental health.
