Project Summary
A pilot study (trial) examination of the outcomes and effects of a mutual recovery program intervention in older adults with depression in a community setting.
The Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS-15) and WHO5 Well-being Index (WHO5) were used to define depression. Self-administered Sleep Questionnaire (SSQ) was used to evaluate the psychosocial condition in the daily life. Participants were recruited from six communities in Pudong district, Shanghai, which were randomly selected from 24 communities in Pudong district. Six communities were randomly allocated to either a mutual recovery program group with 105 participants or a control group with 132 participants. Participants were organised into pairs (“destined acquaintance”) and creative practice of music, story discussion and games were applied.
