Just a note of thanks for your uplifting blog entry - a good start to the New Year! In some ways this complements Paul's valuable previous piece on humanity as the key resource in health care sysytems. In my experience in the UK excellent care of the sort you describe can sometimes seem clearly linked to the systems and processes in place, or alternatively may happen despite these elements. As ever it is people that make it work in either situation. At a time when UK nursing and healthcare is facing a lot of criticism it is useful that you are feeding back to those involved and sharing these experiences more widely.

Would be interested to hear perspectives from other countries.
