Dr Daisy Fancourt is Wellcome Research Fellow in the Department of Behavioural Science and Health at UCL. She holds degrees from Oxford University, King’s College London and UCL in both arts and sciences. She specialises in psychoneuroimmunology and epidemiology, exploring the effects of arts and cultural engagement on neuroimmune responses, clinical conditions and population health outcomes. She has also worked as a consultant to a range of hospitals and Clinical Commissioning Groups on the integration of the arts within care pathways in primary, secondary and tertiary care.
Her work has received over a dozen national and international awards including from the British Science Association, British Academy, British Federation of Women Graduates, American Psychosomatic Society, Royal Society for Public Health and NHS England. Daisy is Deputy Chair of the Royal Society for Public Health’s Special Interest Group in Arts and Health, Chair of the International Arts Health Early Career Research Network and Co-Director of the UK-Florida Arts Health Research Intensive training programme. She has been named a World Economic Forum Global Shaper and BBC New Generation Thinker, and is a regular presenter of radio and TV programmes on arts and science.
